Learning how to walk

“Maybe you’ve watched a baby learning how to walk.

Nobody expects a baby to be born, and then just suddenly get up and walk. In fact, we like watching babies learning to crawl. And after they’ve crawled, pulling themselves up and learning to stand. We are excited and pleased when they take that first step. In between, that baby falls a lot, crawls a lot, but just keeps trying.

Nobody ever says that it’s wrong when that baby falls… everyone just keeps encouraging it. Because we know… we assume… that it’ll find its way. That it will learn what it needs to. That it will walk, and run, in time.

When you treat yourself like that baby you are your own best friend. You’re kind to yourself.”
